The National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos (NOHIL), held a grand matriculation ceremony on Thursday, 24th April 2025, to officially welcome a total of Three Hundred and Twenty-One (321) newly admitted students into its various academic programmes.

The matriculants were drawn from three major academic arms: the School of Nursing Sciences, the Federal College of Orthopaedic Technology (FECOT)—which comprises programmes in Orthopaedic Cast Technology (OND & HND), Prosthetics & Orthotics (OND & HND)—as well as the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Prosthetics & Orthotics, run in affiliation with the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO).

In his welcome address, the Acting Medical Director, Dr. Wakeel Lawal, admonished the students to remain focused and determined in their academic pursuits. He encouraged them to make the most of the resources available in the institution to acquire the necessary skills that will enhance their productivity and prepare them for successful careers.

The Acting Head of Training Schools, Education, Research & Statistics (TSERS), Dr. Francis Nwachukwu, also urged the matriculating students to be diligent in their studies and take advantage of the opportunity to learn in a hospital environment that offers practical exposure to real-world healthcare challenges. He charged them to aim for excellence and strive to contribute meaningfully to society.

Highlights of the event included the official administration of the matriculation oath and motivational speeches from the Director of National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) Southwest Zonal Coordinator, Dr. Ayo Aroge, Director of Administration (NOHIL), Mrs. Roseline Onotsojah-Adedoyin and Head of Nursing Services, Mrs. Olubunmi Ogundipe. The speakers encouraged the students to approach their academic journey with dedication, passion, and a clear vision for their future.
