    National Orthopaedic Hospital Igbobi, Lagos commissioned the Modular Theatre and Amenity Ward on Thursday, 1st April, 2021 with a view to improving the quality of services provided by the Hospital.

    The Honourable Minister of State for Health, Senator (Dr.) Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora who inaugurated the projects commended the efforts of the present Management Board for the completion and equipping of the projects. He therefore stated that the Federal Government was determined to build a healthy system that guarantees universal access to comprehensive, efficient, affordable, adequate, equitable and quality healthcare for Nigerians.

    Addressing the attendees at the event, the Chairman, National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos Management Board, Dr. Tunji Alausa stated that the Board decided to fast track the completion and equipment of the Modular Theatre Complex and Amenity Ward with a view to improving healthcare service delivery of the Hospital. He added that this is to cope with the increase in the number of cases seen at the Hospital due to the introduction of sub-specialties in Orthopaedics. These sub-specialties include Arthroplasty, Arthroscopy/Sports Medicine, Orthopaedic Oncology, Spine Surgery, Orthopaedic Paediatric Surgery and Special Trauma. He therefore, commended the Federal Government and Private Partners for their support and appealed to well-meaning Nigerians for assistance in the completion and furnishing of the ongoing capital projects such as Accident & Emergency Building as well as Out-Patient Department so as to alleviate the pains of the indigent patients.

    The Medical Director, Dr. Mustapha Alimi noted that the construction of the Modular Theatre Complex became a necessity when there was a steep rise in surgeries performed by the Hospital due to development in clinical services. He stated that the Modular Theatre Complex has Six (6) operating suites and some equipped with cameras for streaming live surgeries while the Amenity Ward has Eight (8) private rooms, an Eight (8) bedded Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a well-equipped operating Theatre, a Gym, Laboratory and Mini Pharmacy.
